Privacy Policy

Introduction

Sirch is a search query builder that helps you construct advanced search queries using operators. Your queries, history, and saved items stay on your device and your own private cloud account. Sirch does not run accounts and does not transmit your search content to our servers. This policy describes how the app handles your information and the choices available to you.

Information Processed

Sirch processes the following data locally on your device. We cannot access this data.

  • Search history: the queries you launch, along with the chosen search engine or platform and a timestamp.
  • Saved queries and folders: queries you choose to save and the folders you organise them into.
  • Your preferences: theme, enabled search engines and platforms, and your cloud-backup setting.
  • Purchase receipts: records of the optional one-time premium purchase (managed by Apple or Google).

Limited Data Sent Off Your Device

Sirch is built to keep your search content on your device. Two narrow, non-content functions touch external services:

  • Free-usage limit: non-premium users get a small number of free query launches per day. To enforce this limit fairly and prevent it from being reset by reinstalling the app, Sirch stores a per-day launch count. On iOS this count is mirrored to your private iCloud key-value store, which we cannot access. On Android the count is stored in Google Firebase Firestore, keyed to a device identifier (Android ID), so the limit survives a reinstall. This record contains only a daily count and that identifier. It never contains your search queries, history, or saved items.
  • Crash reporting: Firebase Crashlytics collects anonymous crash and stability diagnostics so we can fix problems. It does not include your search content.

How We Use Your Information

Core Functionality

  • Store and display your search history and saved queries.
  • Organise saved queries into folders.
  • Persist your preferences and load saved queries back into the builder.
  • Back up and restore your data through your own private cloud, when you enable it.

Premium Purchase

  • Unlock unlimited query launches through a single, optional one-time purchase via the App Store or Google Play Store.
  • Enforce the daily free-usage limit for non-premium users, as described above.

Data Storage, Security, and Sync

  • All of your search history, saved queries, and folders are stored locally on your device using an embedded database, and your preferences are persisted on-device.
  • iCloud Sync (iOS): If enabled, your history, saved queries, and folders are synchronized across your Apple devices using your private iCloud account (CloudKit), along with a small settings record in iCloud key-value storage. We do not have access to this private database.
  • Android Backup & Sync: On Android, the app uses your device's native Storage Access Framework to write a backup file to a folder you choose (such as a local folder, Google Drive, or another cloud provider). You can also export or restore a backup file yourself. We never have access to these files.
  • We operate no servers and maintain no databases that hold your search content. The only external records are the anonymous free-usage count described above and anonymous crash diagnostics.
  • Deleting the app removes all locally stored data.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or any third parties. Your search queries, history, and saved items never leave your device or your own private cloud accounts.

Apple, Google, and Firebase Services

Sirch integrates with the following services, which follow their respective privacy practices:

  • StoreKit / Google Play Billing — processing the optional one-time premium purchase.
  • CloudKit & iCloud Key-Value Storage — data synchronization (Apple devices).
  • Storage Access Framework — backups to a folder you choose (Android devices).
  • Firebase Firestore — storing the anonymous daily free-usage count keyed to a device identifier (Android), used only to enforce the free limit.
  • Firebase Crashlytics — anonymous crash reporting to improve app stability.

Your Choices and Controls

  • Delete all of your data by uninstalling the app, or clear history and saved items inside the app.
  • Turn cloud backup on or off at any time in Settings.
  • Adjust or reset your preferences at any time.

Children's Privacy

Sirch is designed for users aged 13 and older. If you are under 13, a parent or guardian must manage the use of the app. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 without parental consent.

Changes to This Policy

We may revise this policy when we add features or when laws change. We will update the date shown at the top of this page. Review this policy periodically. Continued use of Sirch after a change means you accept the updated policy.
